LIVEABOARD

Similan & Surin Marine National Parks

Diving is possible year round, but is best between October and May. The Park is visited as Liveaboard excursions from Phuket and day trips from Khao Lak.

Coral Gardens
Depth: 5-20m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Slight to strong
Popular dusk dive. Extensive coral gardens with large tables of branching corals and gorgonian seafans. Oriental sweetlips, snappers and fusiliers.



South East Point

Depth: 10-30m Visibility: 15-20m Current: Slight to strong
Boulders with archways, caves and ledges. Corals include fire, table staghorns and gorgonian seafans. Leopard sharks, stingrays, lionfish, tunas, barracudas, groupers and surgeonfish.


Shark Fin Reef-Hin Phae

Depth: 10-40m Visibility: 20-30m Current: Slight to strong
Submerged shelf of geometrically shaped boulders. Corals include acropora, dendrophyllia and gorgonnian seafans in the deeper waters. Reef and whale sharks, stingrays and Napoleon wrasse.


Bird Rock

Depth: 15-40m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Slight to strong
Steep ridge with many large sea fans. Turtles, triggerfish and leopard sharks.


East of Eden

Depth: 15-35m Visibility: 20-35m Current: Can be strong
Submerged pinnacles adorned with soft corals. Seafans and wire corals. Garden eels, stingrays, parrot fish and wrasse.


Batfish Bend

Depth: 10-20m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Hard coral reef with a variety of crinoids, mostly feather stars, sea anemones, snappers and batfish.


Stonehenge

Depth: 20-35m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Feather stars, sponges, butterflyfish, lionfish, snappers, tunas, surgeonfish.


Morning Edge

Depth: 10-40m Visibility: 20-30m Current: Can be strong
Ridges of boulders. Lots of hard and soft corals, sponges, seafans and small reeef sharks.


Deep six

Depth: 10-40m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Coral covered boulders. Seafans, wire corals, barrel sponges, feather stars and reef sharks,


Elephant Head

Depth: 15-40m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Enormous boulders with matrix of swim through. Table corals and seafans. Coral trout, Moorish idols, goatfish, lionfish, triggerfish, snappers & nudibranchs.


Beacon Point

Depth: 10-40m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Deep dive punctuated by gorgonian sea fans and wire corals. Many trigger fish and small reef sharks. Cruising mantas.


Beacon Beach

Depth: 5-35m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Weak to moderate
Shallow dive ideal for training and night diving. Plenty of hard corals. Reef life includes groupers, snappers, damselfish and sea kraits.


Fantasy Reef

Depth: 10-40m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can rage
Huge variety of both hard and soft corals and all manners of marine life.
Site currently close for conservation reasons.


Donald Duck-M16-Shoe Bay

Depth: 5-25m Visibility: 10-30m Current: Mild surge
Outer part has series of boulders with enjoyable swim-through. Marine life includes snappers, butterflyfish, lionfish, scorpionfish and trumpetfish. Grat night dive for tiny invertebrates. Beware of boat traffic in the shallows.


Snapper Alley

Depth: 5-25m Visibility: 10-30m Current: Mild surge
Boulders creating underwater canyons. Tree corals, seafans and wire corals. Good representation of small invertebrates, and as the name suggests, snappers.


The Mooring

Depth: 10-25m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Large coral head. Gorgonian corals and seafans. Bannersfish, clown and Titan triggerfish, sweetlips and harlequin ghostpipefish. Excellent night dive.


Breakfast Bend

Depth: 10-25m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Weak to moderate
Nice and easy morning dive. Steep hard coral reef. Garden eels, Napoleon wrasse and small white-tip reef sharks.


Christmas Point

Depth: 10-35m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Rocky area with arches and narrow swim-throughs. Many species of hard and soft corals. Cowrie shells. Giant, fimbriated and ribbon ells. Surgeons and unicorn fish.


Koh Bon

Depth: 8-40m Visibility: 15-30m Current: Can be strong
Steep ridge and wall with good soft coral coverage. Marine life includes octopi, sea kraits, scorpionfish, nudibranchs and small reef sharks. Predictable site for manta rays.


Koh Tachai

Depth: 20-40m Visibility: 12-30m Current: Can rage
Clourful underwater mounts ideal for multilevel diving. Extensive coral coverage, barrel sponges, rays, leopard sharks and many invertebrates. Frequent manta rays and whale sharks.



Koh Surin Tai -South East Point

Depth: 5-25m Visibility: 10-20m Current: Can be strong
Early morning and late afternoon dive. Hard corals. Angelfish, pufferfish, groupers and crustaceans.



Richelieu Rock

Depth: 5-30m Visibility: 20-30m Current: Can range
Submerged rock reasonably predictable for whale sharks but guaranteed for schooling pelagics. Tons of reef life in all colours and sizes. Photographers paradise.



Turtle Ledges

Depth: 5-25m Visibility: 10-20m Current: Slight
Freat night dive. Turtles, sea kraits, anemonefish, parrot and wrasse. Many different species of shrimp.


Hin Gong

Depth: 5-25m Visibility: 10-20m Current: Can be strong
Granites boulders with arches and caves. Gorgonian seafans and wire corals. Good diversity of marine life and reef inhabitants.

Submerged rock reasonably predictable for whale sharks but guaranteed for schooling pelagics. Tons of reef life in all colours and sizes. Photographers paradise.

Koh Dok Mai

Depth: 5-30m Visibility: 20-30m Current: Can range
Submerged rock reasonably predictable for whale sharks but guaranteed for schooling pelagics. Tons of reef life in all colours and sizes. Photographers paradise.


Hin Daeng

Depth: 5-40m Visibility: 10-40m Current: Full range
Large rocky area with steep slopes and sheer walls. Red soft corals give the site it's name. Marine life includes needlefish, barracudas, fusiliers, rays, turtles.
Shark include leopard, grey reef and the occasinal whale shark.


Hin Muang

Depth: 10-40m Visibility: 15-30m Current: Full rage
Two hundred metre long craggy rock crowned in purple soft corals. Large sea fans and anemones, grey reef sharks, school of jacks. Can be good for whale sharks and mantas.


Koh Ha Yai

Depth: 10-30m Visibility: 10-25m Current: Can be strong
Underwater cave with huge cathedral. Hard and soft corals with good marine life including sea whips and fans, large rays, turtles and leopard sharks. Night diving outside cave is particularly good.


Koh Haa

Depth: 12-22m Visibility: 5-15m Current: Moderate to strong
Moderate to strong. Hues of soft corals and tiny reef critters.


Koh See

Depth: 10-20m Visibility: 5-22m Current: Moderate to strong
Diversity of hard and soft corals. Leopard sharks.


Koh Ya Wa

Depth: 3-10m Visibility: 5-18m Current: Can be strong
Large archway. Series of boulders with carpets of anemones and host anemonefish. Shrimp enthusiasts will enjoy the variety found here.


Hin Bia Rhlua

Depth: 5-16m Visibility: 5-15m Current: Wake to moderate
Swimthroughs. Colourful soft corals and varied reef fish including snappers, trigger, angels and butterfly fish.


Koh Mae Urai

Depth: 10-16m Visibility: 5-18m Current: Weak to moderate
Tunnel swimthrough. Pufferfish, sea anemones and small inverterbrates.

Koh Bida Nok

Depth: 5-25m Visibility: 15-25m Current: Can be strong
Large boulders with small caverns. Gorgonian sea fans, wire corals and Sea whips, anemones, anemone fish and small invertebrates.



Koh Phi Phi Ley-Maya Bay

Depth: 15-25m Visibility: 5-15m Current: Can be stronge
Variety of hard and soft corals adhourning walls, pinnacles and large boulders. Many sea whips and anemones. Bannerfish, cuttlefish, Moorish idols, wrasse, starfish and sea urchins.


Koh Phi Phi Ley-Losamah Bay

Depth: 15-20m Visibility: 5-15m Current: Can be strong
Good night dive site. Different species of hard and soft corals. Marine life includes pairs of blue ringed angelfish.


Koh Phi Phi Don-Nui Bay

Depth: 6-25m Visibility: 5-15m Current: Sheltered area
Good wall dive. Hard and soft corals and colourful feather stars. Many bat, angel, scorpion, squirrel and trumpet fish. Great for macro photography.
